Rockland Schools Information

One of our neighbors asked us to pass along the following information.

On Monday January 23rd the Rockland School Committee approved the creation of a full day Kindergarten beginning this fall. The program will be fee based with full pay at $3000 per year and students on free and reduced lunch paying $2000 per year. This rate in comparable to many surrounding towns with Abington at $3000, Whitman-Hanson $3200, etc. Payment may be setup for one time payment, quarterly or monthly depending what best fits parents financial situation. The hope is to have at least one full class and if enough interest we could have two. There will be an informational meeting for parents on February 1st 7:00pm at the Jefferson School. Pass the word along to those living in Rockland and maybe those thinking of moving to our town. Next year will be an exciting one with Full Day Kindergarten, New Middle School and a renovated High School. Certainly a positive trend in the educational landscape for Rockland students.

Holiday Trash Pick Up

Light on the Entrance Wall

Some of you may have noticed a solar light installed at our new entrance wall. This was done by a very well intended neighbor without our knowledge. We do appreciate the initiative. If you are reading this message, we suggest removing the light.

We wanted you all to know that we are looking into some lighting options for the entrance. One of our committee members is actively working with National Grid to install a street light on the utility pole accross from the entrance wall that will light up the entire entrance.

The reason we have not installed lights for the entrance wall is because they will be easily damaged especially when the snow gets piled up. There are also some challenges with providing wired power to that particular spot. Solar lights are a nice alternative however there are challenges with them being bright enough to serve the purpose plus these can be easily stolen and damaged.

We are confident that a workable solution will be established. We will keep you posted.

Greetings Neighbors,

The homeowners association meeting at the Harmon Golf Club on November 9, 2011, went very well. Neighbors were very courteous and some great questions were asked. Thank you to the board members and the committee heads for volunteering their time and efforts to administer the meeting.

Vote Results

1. The proposed 2012 budget was approved.

2. Mark DiNino was voted in for another 3 year term and has agreed to serve as the board President.

3. Option 1 to replace the playground equipment was approved.

Since the playground was approved, we will be reaching out to neighbors to get involved in the process very soon.

Homeowners Meeting 2011

The is the FINAL reminder about the Millbrook Homeowners Assocation meeting TONIGHT from 7-9pm at the Harmon Golf Club located at 168 Concord St in Rockland. The main topic will be plans for our park.

There seems to be some confusion about the absentee ballot that was submitted. This ballot only needs to be submitted by tonight at 5:30pm if you are NOT planning on attending the meeting. Each item will be dicussed and voted on at the meeting. There is only one vote per household.

We also want to remind everyone that the board is a group of elected volunteers who live in the neighborhood and pay the same dues as everyone else. Each board member has a full time career and a family and those obligations must come first. The board has done its very best to properly run the association. At the meeting, we will be asking for people for help by joining some of the committees and for regular operations. We have some exciting times ahead of us!

Lastly, there is an opportunity to run for a spot on the board. At this time, NO ONE has come forth to run for this position. If anyone would like to run for the position tonight, please let us know at the meeting so we can give you a chance to speak to the audience to share how you would like to run the association.

Greeting Neighbors,

The Board of Directors would like to remind everyone again about the Homeowners Association meeting on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, from 7-9pm at the Harmon Golf Club located on 168 Concord St in Rockland. The main topic will be to discuss plans and make a decision for our park.

The information pack for the meeting has been posted on our website on the main page and hard copies have been delivered to your mailboxes. Carefully read through the information so that you can make an informed decision. We are happy to answer any of your questions.

We would like to remind you once again that the board members are unpaid volunteers who pay the same dues as everyone else and live in the neighborhood.

If you are planning on attending the meeting, please note a few ground rules for the meeting.

1. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss Association business only. It will NOT be a forum for individual neighbor disputes.

2. We plan to keep the meeting respectful, productive, and as solution oriented as possible. Concerns & questions will be properly addressed in an orderly fashion.

3. Make your best effort to arrive on time so that the meeting can start on time.

Lastly, there is a position up for election on the board. If you are unhappy with the way the association is being run, you have the option to step up and run for the position at the meeting. So far NO ONE has expressed an interest after months of offers to run.
